Given it’s geographic & topographic position that includes lining a vast portion of the Gulf of Mexico & the mountains that rise behind the coastal regions in the North and swampy regions in the South; one can say, “Veracruz has it all”. It is the land of the Totonac civilization and living culture; the land of the ancient Olmec civilization; the land of coffee and vanilla; and the land of seafood and music, known as the “son jarocho” with roots going back to Africa. We’ll meet the weavers and spend two full days with them, learning about and experiencing their lives and daily rhythms of tending to their sheep, carding, spinning, dying and weaving wool. We’ll also attend the Festival Textil in the Sierra Zongolica.
